 Licensure

Thanks to your efforts the Social Work Board withdrew their proposal to define “diagnosis” as using the DSM criteria.  However, the Board met again in November with another proposed rule change in Chapter 280.6 pertaining to licensure and supervised practice.

Item 1. Amend rule 645-280.6 by adding the following:

1. Include at least one component of the diagnostic practice identifying specific mental or emotional disorders or conditions utilizing the DSM IV (current edition).

2. Include the provision of psychosocial therapy.

ISSWA asks for your continued support in opposing this rule change.  See the Licensure page for more information.  The next meeting of the Board is February 8, 2010, at 9:00 AM, on the 5th floor of the Lucas Building in Des Moines.
