Join ISSWA and ISPA for our 3rd virtual Lunch and Learn session of the 25-26 school year, scheduled for April 2, 2026 at 11:30. At this session, we will host Sue Etscheidt who will speak on Behavioral Intervention Plans [BIPs]: An analysis of current issues and recommendations for improving practice. This session will feature themes from a recent analysis (Etscheidt, 2026) of behavioral intervention plans [BIPs]. Several questions will be addressed:
- Must a Behavioral Intervention Plan [BIP] be developed when behavior interferes with a child’s learning?
- What assessment data should guide the development of BIPs?
- Is parental consent required prior to conducting an FBA to guide development of the BIP?
- Should behaviors and interventions of a BIP be prioritized?
- What are the most common and egregious BIP implementation errors?
- Implications for IEP teams and recommendations for improving practice will be highlighted.
