  • As an ISSWA Member, you will attend the Ethics Training via Zoom at Northwest AEA Office
  • This Zoom will be offered on a limited basis to individual members with prior approval from the ISSWA website administrator. An access code is required to register for this individual zoom session. We are encouraging members to attend a group Zoom session if possible. The individual Zoom session is not open to non-members.
  • Attending Face-to-Face Training at Marshalltown Central Rivers AEA Office: 909 South 12th Street, Marshalltown, IA

    Ethics training is FREE to all current ISSWA members! If you are not yet a member, you may join at this time and once your membership is validated you may register for free.
  • A non-member may register to attend any of the group Zoom sessions and pay the registration fee. Please email the website administrator regarding the location you request to attend after registering online: mford@centralriversaea.org.
    Individual Zoom attendance is not open to non-members.
  • Ethics Training is $30 for individuals that are not members of ISSWA. You may join today for the waived fee, or pay the $30 to register without membership.

Title: Understanding the Recent Changes to the NASW Code of Ethics, Recent Iowa Ethical Violations and How HIPPA and FERPA Impact Our Daily Work

Presenter: Stephen Cummings, University of Iowa School of Social Work Clinical Assistant Professor and Director of Distance Learning

Objectives: 

1.     Identify recent changes to the NASW Code of Ethics effective January 1st, 2018.

2.     Learn about actions taken by the Iowa board reflecting the interpretation of the Code of Ethics; highlighting how the Code of Ethics and the Iowa Code speak to different documents and expectations.

3.     Understand how HIPPA and FERPA impact our daily work and the differences between the two.

Any licensed school social worker in Iowa is welcomed to attend a 3-hour Ethics workshop to meet licensure requirements.  This Ethics presentation will focus on the current issues related to social work ethics and the use of multi-media and technology in everyday practice. The workshop will include a presentation of information, legal issues, updates about confidentiality and the use of media, and a chance for interactive discussion and questions. Certificates will be given to documenting attendance.


Note: This Ethics presentation is FREE for all current ISSWA members in good standing!  Thank you for your membership!! 

Non-members' fee is $30.
