Perla Greenwood, LMSW, holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Work, which she obtained from The University of Northern Iowa. She received her Master's degree from Capella University in 2020. She has experience working in substance abuse in Des Moines, where she got to provide support, education, and BHIS services to women and children who lived in a residential treatment facility. She also worked in child welfare, where she was a Family Support Worker, working with families involved with CPS, who needed support in connecting to resources, parenting education, and visit facilitation if children were removed from the home. She transitioned to School Social Work in 2020 and began her employment at Central Rivers AEA.. She is passionate about working with students with mental health and behavioral difficulties. She is also part of the Crisis-Response Team at Central Rivers AEA and is a co-lead who helps facilitate responses and provide districts with the support needed to meet the needs of students, faculty, and the community affected.
When not at work, Perla enjoys spending time with her one-year-old son, husband, and dog. She also enjoys reading, watching trash reality TV, and trying different coffee shops. Perla loves the Fall weather and you can catch her cozied up, watching football on Sundays!
